Decay Detection

While signs of tree decay are often visible during a standard inspection, there are occasions where the extent of internal decay needs to be accurately assessed and quantified.

This is particularly important when supporting applications relating to protected trees, as some Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) require technical evidence before consenting to the removal of a tree.

Heaps Arboriculture uses specialist diagnostic equipment, including resistograph testing, to investigate the condition and structural integrity of trees with minimal disruption.

Resistograph readings provide technical evidence to help inform clear, evidence-based recommendations and decision-making. An example of a typical resistograph readout is shown below.
