Tree Safety Reports

Landowners have a legal duty of care to ensure their trees are properly managed and do not present a foreseeable risk to people or property.

Under the Occupiers Liability Acts 1957 and 1984, all tree owners have a ‘duty of care’ in civil and criminal law to take reasonable steps to avoid foreseeable injury or damage. Commercial premises also have further obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 to undertake regular tree inspections where appropriate.

Heaps Arboriculture provides professional tree safety surveys and reports for private landowners, commercial sites, estates and public spaces — helping clients meet their responsibilities with confidence.

Using recognised Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) methods, we will assess the condition and structural integrity of your trees, looking for the subtle defects that might otherwise be missed.

Recommendations are tailored to the level of risk presented by each tree and its surroundings, ensuring that any proposed works are practical and proportionate. Unnecessary tree works will never be recommended.

Survey options include:

Walk-Over Tree Surveys
A cost-effective overview survey where only trees requiring attention are recorded and reported on.

Full Tree Surveys
A detailed survey and inventory of all trees on site, suitable for ongoing management and record keeping.

Climbed Tree Surveys
Where required, a closer inspection can be undertaken to investigate defects not fully visible from ground level.

Ancient & Veteran Tree Surveys
For our older trees, extra care needs to be taken to ensure they provide their benefits for generations to come.
